Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 June 2026
The Cranfield Space Program (“we”, “us”) is a small, not-for-profit app run by and for residents of the Rectory Gardens estate in Cranfield (Harlequin Lane and Chantilly Corner). It shows bin collection days and lets neighbours share spare space in their bins. This policy explains what personal data we handle and why.
We are the data controller for this app. For any privacy question or request, contact michael@workdesk.pro.
What we collect
- Your Google account details when you sign in: your name, email address and profile picture.
- Your address on the estate — the street and house number you select, and whether your house has a garden-waste bin.
- What you post — bin-space offers (how full a bin is, any note you add, and who you choose to share it with), and updates you make to a bin’s status.
- Invites — if you invite a neighbour, the email address you enter so we can send the invitation.
- Basic technical data — a sign-in session cookie and standard server logs needed to operate the service securely.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep the app invite-only and secure.
- To show bin day and display bin-space offers to neighbours.
- To send invitation emails when you invite someone.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it for any purpose unrelated to running this app.
Legal basis (UK GDPR)
We process your data on the basis of your consent (you choose to sign in and post offers) and our legitimate interest in running a small community service for residents. You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your account.
Who can see your information
- Other verified residents. Your name and house number appear next to any bin-space offer you post, visible to neighbours according to the visibility setting you choose (everyone, or only selected houses).
- Service providers who process data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Google (sign-in) and Postmark (sending invite emails). They only handle data as needed to provide their service.
Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in, plus a short-lived cookie to process an invite link. We do not use analytics or advertising/tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. If you leave the estate or ask us to remove your account, we delete your personal data. Old bin-space offers are transient and naturally fall out of view after their collection date.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or to restrict or object to how we use it. Email michael@workdesk.pro and we’ll action it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
This app is intended for adult residents and is not directed at children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll update the date above when we do.
